Meet Our Hygiene Assistant, Kimberly

My name is Kimberly. I am a Hygiene Assistant at Dental Care Associates of Spokane Valley in Spokane Valley, Washington.

I was born in Virginia. I was raised in a small town called Patrick County. As a child I was very active in sports. While attending Stuart Elementary School, I played soccer and basketball, and while attending Patrick County High School I played volleyball. My family was very involved in our local church, Harvest Worship Center, so when I wasn’t busy with sports, I was always at a church function. After high school I went to the local community college for a semester in business but wasn’t too interested in it. This is when I figured out I needed something more hands on, just wasn’t sure of what I wanted to do.

I have always wanted to travel, so I moved out to Spokane, Washington, and was given the opportunity to attend Carrington College for Dental Assisting. I had an amazing teacher who was always willing to go that extra mile to make sure that the students understood everything she was teaching. I was very lucky to have her as part of my learning experience. Now that I am a hygiene assistant at Dr. Hood’s office it gives me the opportunity to put to use my college education. I love meeting all of the patients and hearing about their lives or just interests in general.

When I am not working, I like to hang out with friends and my two little pups, Brownie and Kaiser. Since I have no kids or any type of family up here, it’s nice to have two little companions. They are always keeping me busy. I have had the pups since they were only 6 weeks old, and now they are almost 4 years old. Time sure does fly by. Hopefully, when I do have kids, they will still be around to bring as much happiness to the children as they have brought to me.

Meet My Dental Hygienist, Heather

My name is Heather, and I am a dental hygienist in Dr. James G. Hood’s office. I am an Eastern Washington University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene.   I joined Dr. Hood and staff at Dental Care Associates of Spokane Valley in September 2009, and I greatly enjoy working in this practice.  As a dental hygienist, I am committed to helping my patients achieve the best oral health possible through our combined efforts.  I believe in educating my patients so they can make informed decisions regarding their oral health.  As a former elementary teacher, I believe education is the key to success.  I enjoy meeting new people, building relationships, and creating trust between myself and my patients.

I grew up near Spokane, and I will always consider the Pacific Northwest my home.  I am married to my high school sweetheart.  We have two small Schnoodles (schnauzer and poodle mix).  In September 2010, we welcomed our first child.  We have been overjoyed to get to know our daughter.  I love being a mom.

Meet My Dental Assistant

Hello, my name is Sinead. I’m the dental assistant for Dr. James G. Hood. I’ve been assisting for four years and graduated from Apollo College in 2006.  I am the staff member who takes care of our patients while they are in the dental chair, with or without sedation. I enjoy my position at Dental Care Associates of Spokane Valley because of the people I work with and the patients I care for.

I am originally from Spokane. My family moved to Ritzville when I was in 4th grade. I grew up and graduated high school in Ritzville.  After school I decided to travel for a bit. I traveled to Ireland, moved to San Francisco for about a year, and finally settled back in Spokane. I am a single mom of the cutest little girl in the world, Kiera. She is in 3rd grade and is one of the smartest little kids I have ever known. I spend a lot of my free time with her. I have chosen to raise my daughter in Spokane to be close to my family and I love the area.

My mom is originally from Ireland. She was born and raised there, hence my Irish name. My dad was in Ireland for a year visiting family and met my mom and well, here I am. I have four brothers, Mark, Liam, Daniel, and Peter. I am the second oldest in my family. My oldest brother lives in England with his wife and two children. We used to be able to visit them every two years, but it has been a lot harder to plan a trip over there.  I am hoping to take my daughter to Ireland next summer to visit. She has never been and it is an experience I want her to never forget.

So that’s a bit about me. I look forward to meeting you and making your dental visit a comfortable and pleasant experience.

Meet Our Receptionist and Scheduling Coordinator

Hello! I am Amanda, the voice of Dental Care Associates of Spokane Valley. I am the receptionist and scheduling coordinator, and I take care of our patient calls.  You will speak with me to make and confirm appointments.  I look forward to meeting our patients in person, as I am the first staff member you see when you visit our dental practice.

I am fairly new to Spokane.  I am originally from Maryland, and although I miss the beach and East Coast seafood, I enjoy my new life as a military wife in the Spokane area.  I am the oldest of two.  My younger sister, who is my best friend, keeps our family interesting with her wild personality.  We are very close.  Even though we are so far apart now, we keep in close contact through Facebook and phone calls.

My other best friend is my husband. We have been married a year, but have been together for six years.  He is a hardworking crew chief for the KC-135 in the United States Air Force, and my life would definitely not be the same without him.  His dedication in the Service has been such a motivation in my life.

Another love in my life is photography.  I enjoy taking artistic and fun photos for families, new babies, couples, and children for all occasions.  I take a lot of photos of my fur baby Zoey, my German shepherd/yellow Labrador puppy, who just turned 1 year old!  She definitely keeps me and my husband on our toes!

I love scrapbooking, traveling, and singing.  My favorite music artists are The Beatles, Jack Johnson, and Zee Avi.  I’m also a movie fanatic, and anyone in the office can tell you that!  My all-time favorites are White Christmas, In Her Shoes, I Could Never Be Your Woman, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

I love a good laugh and meeting new people.  I am delighted to be such an important part of Dr. Hood’s dental staff, and can’t wait to meet all of our current and new patients face-to-face.
